Reading Acts 10 as a Midrash on Zechariah 8:23

In a previous article, we explored how Peter’s vision was not intended to collapse the Biblical dietary laws. In this, we go deeper and look at how this story may actually be a creative Midrash on Zechariah's prophecy of the Messianic kingdom.

Recently, we've unpacked some of the apparent Midrashic elements in Peter’s vision (Acts 10) to illustrate how this story is not about the abolishment of the Biblical dietary laws.

Now, I've found something bigger in this story that forever changed how I read it.

Zechariah's Prophetic Cast

Putting these pieces together, it occurred to me that Acts 10 may be a brilliantly written and entirely overlooked Midrash on Zechariah.

In Zechariah 8:22-23, the most powerful nations seek out a religious Jew, grasping the corner of his garment, and ask to be taken to the G_D of Israel.

Is Peter's interaction with Cornelius built along the lines of this narrative?
