Why "The Hidden Orchard" Exists

In Hebrew, the word for 'orchard' is pardes (פרדס). The four letters that spell Pardes also serve as an acronym for (4) primary levels of scriptural interpretation. You might say, four different entrances into the orchard of Torah wisdom.

For centuries, Bible readers have been taught non-native methodologies to interpret scripture, often concealing and obscuring the truths hidden in the text. At the Hidden Orchard Project, we'll uncover these insights, casting a new light on the texts and how we understand them.

Dismantling Replacement Theology

As a result of the centuries of interpretative mistakes, a deeply rooted and sometimes covert ideology has emerged known as Replacement Theology

Sadly, Replacement Theology has caused a chasm of division between the Jewish people and Christians, steadily fanning the flames of Anti-semitism. The Hidden Orchard is committed to navigating this space, providing like-minded individuals with insights and food for thought to challenge these ideas, restoring the New Testament to its Jewish context.

About the Author

Hi, my name is James, the author of the majority of the content for The Hidden Orchard project. A little about me...

I cannot recall when my journey began, but I’ve always been a seeker of truth and a fan of the mysterious. Though Jewish on my mother’s side, I grew up in the Catholic church until my early teens. During that time, I explored various Eastern religions and even spent a few years leading and working in a Protestant mega-church before (re)discovering the roots of my heritage. Through this experience, I've discovered that we all have a lot in common.

Over the past few years, I have spent several years learning in a Jewish seminary, held speaking and teaching engagements, and have begun to lead tours in Israel.

In each stretch of my path, I have developed an appreciation for the various people and traditions I have encountered. I realized we all have much more in common than we may believe; we just need a place to share our stories.

On the other hand, I see a lot of work needs to be done to counteract the spread of Replacement theology and the dangerous assumptions left in its wake. It is my goal to help reverse these - if only one reader at a time.

In time, I hope to grow this site with more opportunities for interaction. For now, I hope you enjoy the content - and drop me a line if you have any ideas or suggestions for topics.
