A story from the Midrash goes:

A group of people were traveling in a boat. One of them took a drill and began to drill a hole beneath his seat.
His companions said to him: “Why are you doing this?”
He replied: “What concern is it of yours? Am I not drilling under my own seat?”
Said they to him: “But you will flood the boat for us all!”- Leviticus Rabbah

Everything in the universe is connected. Particularly true in the west, modern human consciousness has trended toward an isolated worldview that ones actions are personal and have no bearing on others. As we will see through the ancient wisdom of the Bible, this could not be further from the truth. Much of the world today is in the state it is in as a result of this miscalculation.

However, the remedy is to simply think in reverse and recognize that we are all part of Divine, cosmic tapestry. The new age of science confirms this reality.

“A human being is a part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feeling as something separated from the rest, a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.”- Albert Einstein
