The Fourth Revolution of Torah
The times we live in are unique. While troubling and challenging on one hand, they also provide never-before opportunities to connect with the Creator. Learn about the Fourth Revolution of Torah and how to take part.
Unlike the common perception of time as linear, the Torah perceives time in the shape of a spiral. While the past echoes through current events, the world is continually pushed, or pulled, toward an ultimate destination.
This perspective teaches that each period is distinct and serves as an act in the greater drama of history. We should recognize that the final act, the times we live in, are very unique.
Footsteps of Messiah
Known as the "Footsteps of Messiah" (Ik'veta DeMeshichah), this era is marked by rapid upheaval as humanity is prepared for the arrival of the Davidic Messiah.
This process has been foretold by the Prophets and discussed within the Jewish tradition for millennia.
The tradition teaches that right before the Messianic era, the world will undergo "birth pangs" of turmoil, inflation, social conflict, wars, and plagues. Much of this can be viewed as a corrective measure to atone for transgressions ahead of the Messiah's arrival.
In this time, we will also experience extreme contrasts of prolific evil, and profound wisdom. The Mishah says:
In the footsteps of the messiah insolence will increase and the cost of living will go up greatly; the vine will yield its fruit, but wine will be expensive; the government will turn to heresy, and there will be no one to rebuke; the meeting-place [of scholars] will be used for licentiousness...
- Mishnah Sotah 9
So, on one hand, much of humanity will sink into spiritual decline, almost to the point of no return. On the other hand, the gates of Divine Wisdom will be opened at an unprecedented level, as a sort of lifeline, to those who truly seek to connect to the Creator.
A Divine Gift
The Book of Daniel foretold of this revelation, and the shift occurring right before the Messianic era.
“But you, Daniel, keep these words secret and seal the book until the time of the end. [At that time] Many will range far and wide and knowledge will increase.”
- Daniel 12:4
