Video: The Journey of the Soul | Week 2 - During Life on Earth
In the second session of "The Journey of the Soul" study, we explore soul groups, spiritual guides, life missions and the process of reincarnation (Gilgul) from within the Jewish tradition and personal accounts.
In this session, we picked up where we left off, exploring what happens after a soul enters life and the process of transition as described in the Jewish tradition and personal accounts.
Do we remember our time before Earth? Does our life reflect a particular mission And who from our soul group has joined us in our adventure?
In this session, we also explore the controversial topic of Gilgul, Jewish reincarnation, referencing the Rabbinic tradition and some of the statements from the late Dr. Ian Stevenson, the foremost researcher in this space.
Topics Covered:
- Recap of Week 1: The soul is multifaceted and exists before life. Souls choose their lives, families, and circumstances for spiritual development. Every individual action impacts a collective soul, and challenges are viewed as opportunities for the soul's growth.
- Life Missions and Soul Groups: Souls plan their existence together in "soul groups" before birth, mapping out their missions and challenges. Some souls, described as "elevated" or "advanced," choose particularly challenging lives (e.g., facing the Holocaust or severe illness) to support others or teach lessons.
- Transitioning to a Body and the 'Forgetting': There's a process of a soul melding with a human body, which has its own personality and struggles. The memory of the "world of souls" fades from birth (the "forgetting"), though young children sometimes retain these memories. The Jewish tradition suggests that before birth, an angel teaches the soul the entire Torah and makes it take an oath to be righteous.
- Never Alone, Guides, Guardian Angels: Individuals are never truly alone in their life's mission, as they are accompanied by soul connections (family, friends) and spiritual guides or guardian angels. These guides chronicle life's experiences and provide intuition and guidance.
- Soul's Choosing Challenging Lives: Souls might intentionally choose difficult lives, like those with severe autism or debilitating mental conditions, not for their own struggle but to teach others. These "elevated souls" operate on a higher spiritual level, acting as a bridge between the physical and spiritual worlds.
- Gilgul - Jewish Reincarnation: Gilgul is presented as the Jewish concept of reincarnation, distinct from Eastern traditions. It appears in early Jewish thought and in the New Testament (e.g., Elijah's return). The general idea is that souls are given chances to make up for past mistakes or gain experiences they missed.
- Dr. Ian Stevenson's Work: We feature the scientific studies of Dr. Ian Stevenson, who researched children recalling past lives. His work provides compelling evidence, with children describing names, locations, and events from previous lives, often exhibiting phobias or preferences not explained by their current circumstances.
- Progress Over Many Lifetimes: Soul development is a long process that often takes multiple lifetimes. The soul is seen as a composite of countless "sparks" or "fractals," connecting individuals to ancestors and other souls.
- Reasons for Entering or Re-entering Life: Souls may enter or re-enter life to fulfill a mitzvah (commandment), rectify past mistakes, complete spiritual growth (e.g., learning faith through hardship), undertake a specific mission to help others, have a full human experience, or for atonement, sometimes by taking on a life of suffering for the sake of others.
