Tips to Calm the Mind for Meditation

If you have ever tried to meditate, you may find it is incredibly challenging to hold your focus. We live in an age buzzing with technology, lights, sounds, and a multitude of distractions.
These challenges are not insurmountable though. Below I have listed a few tips that have been experientially helpful for me.
Sights
Before beginning a meditation, it is helpful to manage, (or even block out), as much light as possible. Darkness can be helpful to bring yourself to a state of relaxation, but another reason is that you may be easily distracted should someone pass between you and a light source.
